$1 million to shield Million Dollar Beach?

Final expense of eliminating Asian clam pest could more than double initial cost estimates

LAKE GEORGE — Efforts to smother invasive Asian clams in Lake George not far from Million Dollar Beach appear to be working, but a $475,000 budget won’t be enough.

Large mats placed this spring on the lake bottom atop a 5-acre infested area killed 97 percent of clams near nine shoreline resorts and the village beach, according to a report released Wednesday by the Lake George Asia Clam Rapid Response Task force.  Click here to read more.
