The following are interactive maps showing all Eurasian milfoil harvest locations. Our crew takes GPS points over each location where a plant or plants are harvested, that data is then processed to create these maps. Viewers can change the map background using the drop down menu in the top right corner. Double clicking on the map surface will zoom in one level centering on the point where you click. You can click and drag to move around on the map as well. There is a scale bar in the bottom left as well as zoom and pan tools on the left side of each map.

2010

AIM worked on the Chateaugay Lakes for the first time in 2010. An eight diver crew was brought in for 2 weeks to tackle dense areas in the connecting channel between Upper and Lower Chateaugay Lakes. The milfoil growth was extremely dense and tall resulting in lots of mass. As a result the crew harvested 22.5 tons of milfoil in two weeks. There is much to be done on the Chateaugay Lakes as they are facing one of the worst Eurasian milfoil infestations in the Adirondack Park. AIM hopes to employ new methods and technologies in the future to control the lake’s large-scale problem.

The following are four maps generated by Dr. Dan Kelting of the Adirondack Watershed Institute (AWI) detailing the extent of the milfoil growth on Lower Chateaugay Lake, the Channel and Upper Chateaugay Lake as well as the specific area where AIM worked in 2010. Current milfoil growth is shown in green. The red line indicates the boundary of potential milfoil growth if left unchecked. The final map shows transect lines used by AWI to monitor the milfoil growth over time.
